2008 Africa Pavilion Ambassadors

Each year a number of Africans are selected as ambassadors for the Folklorama African Pavilion. ACOMI is proud to announce the following selected individuals as ambassadors at the 2008 Folklorama Festival. The 2008 festival will be held from 3rd - 16th August with the Africa Pavilion operating from 10th - 16th August

Olalekan Tijani - Nigeria

Olalekan Tijani is an 19year old man from the Nigerian community who has been a volunteer of the Africa Pavilion in various capacities. He is fluent in English, French and Yoruba.

Olalekan would like to be an ambassador for the Africa Pavilion because he believes he can truly represent the continent of Africa in a positive light. He believes that the general public is sometimes very stereotypical about Africans and what the continent of Africa is really like. As an ambassador, he can aid in showcasing the tradition and rich heritage to the public and correct any misperceptions they have. As an African, he is proud of his background and hope to bring forth his pride to the pavilion.
 

Chichi Asagwara - Nigeria

Chichi is the Female Adult Ambassador. Chichi is a 24 year old Student from the Nigerian community who believes that she would be an excellent role model for African Youths.

She has confidence in her abilities to educate herself and others about our diverse culture. she enjoy speaking with people about Africa. With her past experience as an Ambassador and Tour Coordinator, her abilities in public speaking, leadership, customer service and delegation of tasks have been enhanced. She is proud to represent the Pavilion one more time!!!!
 

Robel Gebreyesus - Eritrea

Robel is the Male Youth Ambassador. Robel is a 17 year old student from the Eritrean community who believes that representing Africa is a dream come true.

He feels that it is a great pleasure to share his cultural values with the rest of Canadians. His involvement with the Africa Pavilion for the last three years has left him with an everlasting positive experience. He has witnessed many contributions made by others and will like to contribute his share.
 

Diana Lughas - Nigeria

Diana is the Female Youth Ambassador. Diana is a 15 year old student from the Nigerian community who has been a performer at the Pavilion for 7 years.

Diana feels that it is an honor to be given the opportunity to educate and inform others about how great our motherland Africa and its people are. She also looks forward to the cultural experience that she will gain from the other cultures.
